Bring a burst of spring color into your space with “Blooming Columbine: A Miniature May Floral Study,” a tiny but detail-packed floral artwork by Justyn Simon. Created as part of the Blooming Marvelous May and Miniature May art challenges, this 2"x2" drawing transforms delicate Columbine flowers into a bold decorative composition filled with layered greens, warm pinks, creamy whites, and striking black ink outlines. Despite its miniature size, the piece captures a lively garden atmosphere with a stained-glass-inspired feel and expressive hand-drawn texture.

This artwork was created using a combination of traditional media including mechanical pencil, kneaded eraser, colored pencil, India ink pens, and acrylic paint pen. The mixed-media approach gives the piece both soft organic texture and sharp graphic contrast, helping the flowers stand out against the dense botanical background. The miniature format challenged me to focus on composition, contrast, and detail while working within a compact square design.

Perfect for collectors of floral artwork, botanical illustrations, miniature art, and colorful nature-inspired pieces, this Columbine drawing celebrates the beauty of spring in a small but eye-catching format. Whether displayed in a studio, office, reading nook, or gallery wall arrangement, this artwork adds a bright handcrafted touch to any space.
