Bring the bold beauty of the garden into your home with Chinese Poppy Miniature Study, an original floral artwork by artist Justyn Simon.

This piece focuses on the dramatic form and vivid coloration of a blooming Chinese poppy. The flower's bright red petals fill the composition, drawing attention to the intricate center while subtle textures and layered shading create depth and movement. The miniature format encourages viewers to appreciate the delicate details that make this flower so captivating.

The artwork was created using a combination of mechanical pencil, kneaded eraser, colored pencil, India ink pen, and acrylic paint pen, then digitally refined using Snapseed and Procreate. This blend of traditional and digital techniques preserves the handmade character of the original while enhancing clarity and presentation.

Part of my ongoing botanical and floral art collection, this piece celebrates the colors, textures, and forms found throughout nature. Whether displayed in a home, office, studio, or garden-themed space, this artwork offers a vibrant reminder of the beauty that can be found in even the smallest blooms.

Artwork Story

The Chinese poppy immediately caught my attention because of its brilliant red petals and dramatic floral structure. For this miniature study, I focused on capturing the layered petals, contrasting shadows, and detailed center of the bloom. The rich reds and textured mark-making help convey the energy and vibrancy that make poppies such memorable flowers. This piece continues my exploration of botanical subjects and the beauty found in everyday gardens.
