Litter Lords is a colorful digital illustration created in Procreate for my original card game, Barker’s of Ruin. The artwork features Catrick the Cheat sitting inside his litter-box arena, surrounded by playing cards, dice, Elimino pieces, gems, garbage, and other elements inspired by the mechanics of his chaotic mini-game.
Litter Lords is one of nine games associated with Catrick the Cheat and one of the eight games featured during Phase 1 of his boss battle. The mini-game combines elements of the card game Garbage with Catrick’s own deck of Elimino and the custom playing-card mechanics of Barker’s of Ruin.
During Litter Lords, the heroes use playing cards and attempt to complete their layouts while Catrick attacks through dice rolls. Cards higher than an 8 can be discarded to draw from Catrick’s Elimino deck or take the top card from his discard pile. Each hero also maintains a personal discard pile, allowing players to use the top card from their own pile or an ally’s.
Catrick becomes increasingly dangerous as he progresses toward victory. Early in the game, his attacks deal only half damage. As he advances, his attacks eventually increase to normal damage, 1.5× damage, 2× damage, and finally 3× damage, while also forcing damaged heroes to randomly discard more cards.
The result is a battle where the heroes are racing against both the cards and Catrick himself. The closer he gets to completing Litter Lords, the more dangerous the battlefield becomes.
This illustration brings those mechanics together visually, portraying Catrick as the mischievous ruler of his own litter-filled game while cards, dice, gems, and garbage surround him.
Litter Lords is part of the larger world of Barker’s of Ruin, my original card-game project featuring custom playing-card rules, dice combat, characters, mini-games, and multi-phase boss battles.
