The Watchful Tsvetnaya is my mixed-media portrait of a Russian Tsvetnaya, created as part of my Dogust 2026 art challenge. In this piece, I wanted to capture the dog's watchful expression and distinctive appearance while continuing the bold, illustrative approach found throughout my Dogust artwork.

The portrait features strong black-and-white markings accented by warm browns, all set against a textured blue background. The dog's gaze became one of my favorite aspects of the finished piece and ultimately inspired the title The Watchful Tsvetnaya.

I created the original artwork using a mechanical pencil, kneaded eraser, watercolor pen, India ink pen, and acrylic paint pen. Once the traditional artwork was finished, I edited the image using Snapseed and Procreate to prepare it for display and reproduction as a fine art print.

Dogust gives me an opportunity to explore a wide variety of dog breeds through my artwork, including breeds that may be less familiar to many dog lovers. The Watchful Tsvetnaya continues that journey and adds another unique canine portrait to my growing Dogust 2026 collection.

Whether you're a Russian Tsvetnaya enthusiast, a collector of dog artwork, or simply drawn to expressive canine portraits, The Watchful Tsvetnaya can bring a distinctive piece of dog-inspired art into your space.
