H Is for Hamilton Hound – Inktober 2026: Lexicon Lands

Continuing my alphabetical journey through dog breeds, letter H introduces the Hamilton Hound, also known as the Hamiltonstövare!

Originally developed in Sweden, the Hamilton Hound is recognized for its athletic build, expressive face, and distinctive tricolor coat.

For this artwork, I focused on capturing the breed's recognizable features through traditional ink techniques. Carefully layered grey tones, bold black markings, and white highlights help bring the Hamilton Hound to life.

My Artistic Process

I created this illustration using a combination of traditional art supplies and digital finishing techniques:

• Mechanical pencil: Initial sketch and proportions

• Kneaded eraser: Refining the pencil sketch

• India ink dip pen: Black and white ink details

• Watercolor brush: Applying grey ink tones

• Snapseed and Procreate: Digital adjustments and finishing touches
