The Steadfast Drever is a mixed-media dog portrait celebrating the distinctive appearance and determined character of the Drever. Created as part of my Dogust 2026 art challenge, this piece features the breed's long ears, expressive eyes, and recognizable brown-and-white coloring set against a rich blue background.

I wanted the Drever's face to be the main focus of the composition, giving the portrait a direct and quietly determined expression. Bold black outlines establish the dog's features, while layered browns, whites, grays, and subtle highlights add texture and definition. The contrasting blue background helps the warmer colors of the Drever stand forward from the page.

I created the original artwork using a mechanical pencil, kneaded eraser, India ink pen, fineliner pen, watercolor pen, and acrylic paint pen. After completing the traditional drawing, I used Snapseed and Procreate to edit and prepare the finished artwork digitally.

The original drawing was completed on August 27, 2026, as another entry in my ongoing Dogust collection celebrating dogs through mixed-media artwork.

This artwork can be a great addition to the collection of a Drever owner, hound enthusiast, dog lover, Swedish dog breed enthusiast, or collector of canine artwork. It can also work well as dog-themed wall art for a living room, office, bedroom, pet area, or other space celebrating a love of dogs.
