A Border Collie stands guard over the open plains in this Catan-inspired hex tile, blending bold acrylic textures with digital refinement as part of a collectible dog-themed series.
Step into the open plains with Verdant Guardian of the Open Plains, a custom Settlers of Catan–inspired hex tile featuring a focused and intelligent Border Collie standing watch over rolling green grasslands. Representing the sheep resource, this piece captures the spirit of herding dogs—disciplined, watchful, and deeply connected to the land they protect.
Part of my Acrylic April series, this artwork is one tile in a growing collection where each environment is paired with a dog breed that embodies its purpose. Together, these pieces form a unified world—transforming a classic board game into a storytelling experience filled with canine guardians and symbolic landscapes.
This piece was created using a layered mixed media approach—starting with a strong foundation and building upward through bold color and clean linework.
After completing the physical artwork, I refined the final image digitally using Snapseed and Procreate to enhance clarity, contrast, and presentation while staying true to the original piece.
