A fierce Werewolf Shepherd howls beneath an enormous golden moon in this dramatic Halloween illustration by Justyn Simon of The Artistic Shepherd. Created digitally in Procreate, this fantasy wolf artwork features a haunted castle, flying bats, misty forests, and vivid autumn colors. Part of the Drawlloween 2026 art collection.
A fearsome guardian rises beneath the Halloween moon.
Deep within a mysterious, moonlit landscape, a powerful Werewolf Shepherd stands atop rugged rocks, baring its fangs beneath an enormous golden full moon. Surrounded by twisted trees, flying bats, a haunted castle, and layers of eerie blue mist, this supernatural canine brings the spirit of Halloween to life.
Created by Justyn Simon of The Artistic Shepherd, Werewolf Shepherd is an original digital illustration combining a love of dogs, fantasy creatures, and atmospheric Halloween scenery.
The Werewolf Shepherd dominates the foreground with its fierce expression, piercing blue eye, powerful claws, and thick gray-and-white fur. Electric-blue shadows, golden highlights, and fiery red accents emphasize the creature's supernatural appearance.
Behind the werewolf, a glowing golden moon illuminates a mysterious landscape filled with gothic architecture, distant forests, cemetery fences, and drifting fog. Crimson autumn leaves scattered across the rocky foreground add warmth and contrast to the cool midnight-blue surroundings.
The illustration combines bold, ink-inspired outlines with detailed digital coloring to create a distinctive fantasy-horror atmosphere.
This artwork was created entirely in Procreate as part of Drawlloween 2026.
The illustration was organized into 21 layers, including the foreground, multiple layers of scenery and atmosphere, and a final custom Bristol paper texture.
To create the illusion of depth, I used several digital painting techniques:
Gaussian Blur to soften distant scenery.
Layer masks to control blur and prevent unwanted spillover.
Cloud brushes to create irregular, natural-looking fog.
Alpha Lock and three shades of blue to develop the mist and atmospheric color transitions.
A custom Bristol paper texture brush to give the finished digital illustration a more traditional artistic appearance.
The result is a richly layered Halloween scene that combines sharp foreground details with a mysterious, atmospheric background.
Whether you're a fan of wolves, German Shepherds, werewolves, fantasy creatures, or Halloween decorations, Werewolf Shepherd brings a dramatic supernatural atmosphere to your space.
Its combination of vibrant colors, detailed canine artwork, and gothic scenery makes it a distinctive addition to a seasonal art collection—or a striking piece to display throughout the year.
