Own the one-of-a-kind original artwork that brings to life one of Earl Dewey Fisher's earliest surviving childhood memories. The Kansas River Flood of 1903 was created for Episode 4: Early Memories Near Topeka in The Biography of Earl Dewey Fisher audiobook series, illustrating the moment when Earl and his siblings witnessed a house being swept down the flooded Kansas River during the historic flood of 1903.
Based on Earl's own recollections, this illustration preserves an extraordinary moment from both his family's history and the history of Kansas. Standing safely above the floodwaters, the children watched the immense power of the river as homes and debris drifted downstream—an unforgettable memory that remained with Earl throughout his life.
Created primarily with colored pencil, this mixed-media piece also incorporates India ink pen for the gray values and floodwaters, mechanical pencil for the initial drawing, kneaded eraser for refinement, an acrylic paint pen border, and a fine liner pen signature. The completed artwork was digitally refined in Snapseed while preserving the integrity of the original traditional media.
As the original artwork, this piece is entirely unique. No two originals can ever be exactly alike, making it a special addition for collectors of historical art, genealogy-inspired artwork, and traditional mixed-media illustrations.
