Abstract Mirror White Awakening — When a Rare Roll Unlocks an Uncountered Power
Jan 19, 2026

Some pieces start as a simple painting idea.
And then some pieces feel like they arrived with rules attached.
Abstract Mirror White Awakening is an abstract dog painting created to represent Mirror White, a rare game mechanic from Barker’s of Ruin—and the only “color” in my Rock • Paper • Scissors based color system that has no counter.
Mirror White isn’t something you can force, grind, or farm.
It doesn’t show up because you planned it perfectly.
It shows up when the dice say: now.
🪞 What Mirror White Means in Barker’s of Ruin
In Barker’s of Ruin, each color in the system has a natural counter… except one.
Mirror White has no counter.
It exists outside the usual “this beats that” logic, which makes it feel less like a normal advantage and more like a rare event—something that changes the tone of the whole moment.
That’s what this piece represents:
a power that doesn’t dominate through force…
but through authority.
🎲 How You Unlock Mirror White
Mirror White has only one access condition:
You must roll a 1 on a d20 three times in a row.
And here’s the twist:
It doesn’t matter how many times you roll overall—
✅ every third time it triggers.
So it’s not about “how long it takes.”
It’s about that strange alignment of chance that makes you stop and go…
“Wait. That actually happened.”
📖 The Mirror White Effect: Scripture on the Field
When Mirror White awakens, it allows something that feels completely different from a normal ability.
You can quote a Scripture verse, and that verse takes effect on the playing field.
Not as flavor text.
Not as a roleplay moment.
As an actual mechanic.
That concept is what pushed this artwork into the abstract zone for me—because how do you paint a rule that feels like truth breaking into the system?
You don’t paint it as a literal scene.
You paint it as an awakening.
🎨 Materials Used
This piece was created using:
-
Mechanical pencil
-
Kneaded eraser
-
Watercolor pans
-
Water
-
Acrylic pen border
The pencil + kneaded eraser gave me the structure and control.
The watercolor did what watercolor does best—moving like a living force.
And the acrylic pen border sealed it in like a frame around something powerful that doesn’t want to stay contained.

Final Thoughts
Mirror White is one of those mechanics that feels like it’s there to remind you that the game isn’t only strategy.
Sometimes it’s timing.
Sometimes it’s chance.
Sometimes it’s the moment where you roll something so unlikely that it feels like a message.
That’s what this painting is trying to hold onto:
A rare roll.
An uncountered color.
And a verse that speaks into the battlefield like it belongs there.
