Cleansing Draught — A Potion That Clears All Debuffs
Jan 12, 2026

This piece was created using traditional mixed media, keeping the process tactile and visible throughout:
-
Mechanical pencil for the initial sketch
-
Kneaded eraser to soften and refine the form
-
Watercolor pens activated with water to build translucent color and movement within the glass
-
Acrylic paint pen to finish the border and frame the piece cleanly
The limited palette and restrained composition were intentional. Potions in Barker’s of Ruin are functional objects first—designed to be recognized instantly during play. This illustration reflects that clarity, allowing the materials and textures to do the storytelling.
The full process was recorded and shared as a short time-lapse video, showing the artwork develop from sketch to final details.

From Game Mechanic to Visual Artifact
One of the things I enjoy most about Barker’s of Ruin is translating game mechanics into physical imagery. A potion like the Cleansing Draught isn’t flashy, but it’s often the difference between collapse and recovery. Turning that mechanic into an illustration helps ground the world, giving even small items a visual identity.
As a standalone piece, this artwork works as both a fantasy object study and a quiet reminder of preparedness—having something ready before you need it.
