Daisies Miniature Study – Celebrating Nature's Cheerful Classic

There are few flowers as instantly recognizable and universally loved as the daisy. With its bright golden center surrounded by crisp white petals, the daisy has become a symbol of happiness, innocence, hope, and the simple joys found in nature. In my latest piece, Daisies Miniature Study, I wanted to capture that familiar beauty in a detailed mixed media artwork that celebrates one of the world's most iconic wildflowers.

As part of my Miniature Study Series and created during my Blooming Marvelous May project, this artwork focuses on a close-up arrangement of several daisies growing together. Rather than isolating a single bloom, I filled the composition with overlapping flowers and lush greenery to create the feeling of looking directly into a thriving patch of blossoms.

Finding Beauty in Familiar Flowers

One of the things I enjoy most about botanical art is that even the most common flowers have unique details waiting to be discovered. Daisies may appear simple at first glance, but a closer look reveals intricate textures, layered petals, and vibrant color contrasts that make them fascinating artistic subjects.

The bright yellow centers provide a bold focal point while the surrounding white petals create a soft balance against the rich greens of the foliage. Every flower contributes to the composition, creating movement and depth throughout the miniature artwork.

Sometimes the flowers we see every day become the easiest to overlook. Creating this piece gave me the opportunity to slow down and appreciate the remarkable design found in one of nature's simplest blooms.

Creating the Artwork

Like the other pieces in my miniature flower collection, this artwork combines several traditional media to build texture and detail throughout the composition.

The piece was created using:

  • Mechanical pencil
  • Kneaded eraser
  • Colored pencil
  • India ink pen
  • Acrylic paint pen

After the traditional artwork was completed, I made subtle finishing adjustments using Snapseed and Procreate to enhance the overall presentation while preserving the handcrafted appearance of the original drawing.

Part of the Miniature Study Series

Daisies Miniature Study joins the growing collection of botanical artwork I created throughout Blooming Marvelous May, a month-long challenge dedicated to producing miniature floral illustrations featuring a wide variety of flowers.

Each miniature explores a different species while maintaining a consistent artistic style built around careful observation, detailed linework, and vibrant color. Together, the collection celebrates the incredible diversity found throughout the botanical world.

Bringing Nature Indoors

Daisies have long represented optimism, renewal, and happiness. Their bright appearance makes them wonderful additions to homes, offices, studios, classrooms, and anywhere that could benefit from a touch of natural beauty.

Whether you're a flower enthusiast, botanical art collector, or simply someone who enjoys cheerful nature-inspired artwork, Daisies Miniature Study offers a timeless reminder of the beauty that surrounds us every day.

Available as Fine Art Prints

If you'd like to add Daisies Miniature Study to your collection, fine art prints are available through my Art Storefronts gallery.
