Some potions feel like a gentle boost… and some feel like flipping a switch and instantly taking control of the fight.

Quicksilver Bluebolt is one of those “start fast and stay dangerous” kinds of brews—a vivid blue bottle packed with momentum, crackling energy, and that first-turn advantage that changes everything.

This piece is part of my ongoing Barker’s of Ruin potion series—fantasy item artwork inspired by deckbuilding combat, roguelike energy management, and the kinds of magical loot you wish you had right before things get chaotic.

What Quicksilver Bluebolt Does in Barker’s of Ruin ⚡🧪

In the world of Barker’s of Ruin, Quicksilver Bluebolt is designed for aggressive openers and combo-heavy builds.

Potion Effect (In-World):
🃏 Draw 2 extra cards on your first turn
⚡ Gain +1 Energy per turn for the rest of this combat

That means you don’t just start stronger—you stay stronger.

It’s the perfect potion for:

• digging for your setup pieces immediately

• keeping pressure on every turn after

• turning a slow hand into a full-on engine

The Artwork: A Blue Potion That Looks Like Lightning

I wanted this bottle to feel electric, even while staying clean and readable like a real in-game item.

The deep blue tones push the feeling of charged energy, while the highlights sell that glossy glass shine—like it’s catching light mid-motion. The goal was simple:

Make it look like something you’d grab off your belt and use without hesitation.

Materials Used (Traditional Mixed Media)

Quicksilver Bluebolt was made with:

• Mechanical pencil

• Kneaded eraser

• Metallic watercolor pencil

• Watercolor pencil

• Water

• Acrylic pen outline

That acrylic pen outline is what gives it the crisp finish and makes the potion pop like a real collectible item illustration.

Final Thought: Win the First Turn, Fuel the Rest

Some battles are decided by endurance…
but others are decided by who takes control first.

Quicksilver Bluebolt is the potion version of that moment—
the spark that starts the chain reaction.

If you’ve ever wanted your opening hand to feel like destiny, this is the bottle.
