Strawberry Blossom Miniature Study – A Delicate Botanical Artwork for Blooming Marvelous May
Jun 02, 2026

Spring is a season of growth, color, and renewal, and few flowers capture that feeling quite like the humble strawberry blossom. I'm excited to share my latest miniature botanical artwork, Strawberry Blossom Miniature Study, created as part of both my Blooming Marvelous May and Miniature May art challenges.
This artwork focuses on a single strawberry flower surrounded by rich green foliage. While strawberries are often celebrated for their fruit, the blossoms themselves possess a simple elegance that deserves appreciation. Their bright white petals and golden centers create a beautiful contrast against the deep greens of the plant, offering a reminder that every harvest begins with a bloom.
The Creative Process
Like many of the botanical pieces in my Blooming Marvelous May series, this artwork began as a traditional drawing. I first sketched the composition using a mechanical pencil and refined the details with a kneaded eraser. Once the structure was established, I added color and depth using colored pencil, India ink pen, and acrylic paint pen.
After completing the traditional artwork, I enhanced the presentation using Snapseed and Procreate, helping the colors and details stand out while maintaining the handcrafted appearance of the original piece.
Celebrating Blooming Marvelous May and Miniature May
Throughout May, I've been participating in two creative challenges that complement each other perfectly. Blooming Marvelous May encourages the exploration of flowers and botanical subjects, while Miniature May focuses on creating small-scale artworks packed with detail and personality.
The compact size of these miniature studies challenges me to simplify shapes while still capturing the character of each flower. Strawberry Blossom Miniature Study is a perfect example of how even a small artwork can showcase intricate textures, subtle shading, and vibrant color relationships.
Finding Beauty in Everyday Plants
One of my favorite aspects of botanical art is discovering beauty in plants that people often overlook. Strawberry blossoms are familiar to gardeners, yet many people never pause to appreciate their delicate structure. By focusing closely on a single bloom, this artwork invites viewers to notice details that might otherwise go unseen.
The bold outlines and vibrant greens create a stained-glass-inspired appearance that helps the flower stand out while preserving the organic feel of the original subject.
Available as a Print
Thank you for following along with my Blooming Marvelous May and Miniature May journey. Each new flower offers an opportunity to learn, create, and share the beauty found in nature's smallest details. I look forward to sharing more botanical miniatures throughout the month.
