Earl Dewey Fisher Prologue: The Beginning of a Preserved Life Story
Jun 12, 2026

Every great story has a beginning, and for The Biography of Earl Dewey Fisher, that beginning starts with a simple but powerful sentence:
"My daughter wants to write what I know about the life of my father and mother..."
These words open a firsthand life narrative recorded by Earl Dewey Fisher around 1983. His account preserves memories of family, faith, work, hardship, and everyday life across Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. As part of my ongoing audiobook project, I wanted to create a piece of artwork that visually represents the moment Earl began documenting the experiences that would become this remarkable historical record.
The result is the Earl Dewey Fisher Prologue Illustration, a mixed-media artwork depicting Earl seated at his desk, surrounded by books, photographs, and the memories of a lifetime waiting to be preserved. The artwork was created using mechanical pencil, kneaded eraser, fine liner pens, India ink pens, and acrylic paint pens, then digitally refined using Snapseed and Procreate.

Why This Project Matters
Family histories are often lost when stories are never written down. One of the goals of The Biography of Earl Dewey Fisher project is to preserve a firsthand account of everyday life during a period of significant change in American history.
While history books often focus on major events and famous individuals, Earl's memoir provides something equally valuable: the perspective of an ordinary man navigating work, faith, family responsibilities, and the challenges of rural life. Through both the audiobook and the accompanying artwork, I hope to help preserve and share that legacy with future generations.
Thank you for supporting this project and joining me as I bring Earl's story to life through art and storytelling.
