πΎ November 2026 at The Artistic Shepherd: Finishing Lexicon Lands & Exploring New Artistic Ideas
Nov 01, 2026
A New Month of Creativity, Dog Artwork, and Artistic Freedom
November has arrived, and with it comes another chapter in my artistic journey at The Artistic Shepherd!
Although October and its art challenges have officially ended, I still have some unfinished creative business. This month, my primary focus is completing Lexicon Lands, my dog-themed Inktober 2026 project, while also making time to work on ideas from my non-art challenge drawing list.
This November is all about finishing what I've started, exploring new artistic possibilities, and enjoying the creative process without feeling restricted by challenge deadlines.
π Finishing Lexicon Lands: Inktober Continues into November
One of my biggest creative goals for November is completing Lexicon Lands, my Inktober 2026 project featuring an alphabetical collection of dog breeds.
The project includes 27 drawings—one for each letter of the alphabet, plus a special Wild Card featuring Valor, my White Swiss Shepherd mascot.
Throughout October, I worked on bringing these dogs to life using traditional drawing materials, including mechanical pencil, kneaded eraser, India ink, watercolor brushes, and acrylic paint pens. I also used Snapseed and Procreate for digital adjustments and finishing touches.
While I wasn't able to finish all 27 drawings before Halloween, I'm continuing the project into November rather than leaving it unfinished.
Each dog brings something different to the collection, from recognizable breeds to lesser-known dogs with fascinating appearances and histories.
My goal is to complete the remaining drawings and continue developing Lexicon Lands into a collection that celebrates the diversity of dogs through art.
π¨ Returning to My Non-Art Challenge Drawing List
Beyond Lexicon Lands, November is also an opportunity to revisit ideas from my personal drawing list.
Throughout the year, art challenges provide inspiration, structure, and opportunities to experiment with different techniques. However, they can also mean setting aside other creative ideas while focusing on specific prompts and deadlines.
That's why I'm looking forward to spending some time working on artwork outside of organized challenges.
My non-art challenge drawing list includes ideas I want to explore at my own pace, allowing me to experiment with different subjects, styles, and artistic approaches.
Some drawings may involve dogs, while others may explore storytelling, imaginative concepts, or subjects inspired by my personal interests.
The best part is having the freedom to decide what to create next!
βοΈ Creativity Doesn't Have to Follow a Calendar
One thing I've learned from participating in art challenges is that not every project can be completed within its original timeframe.
Sometimes an artwork requires more time, a creative idea becomes more ambitious than expected, or life simply gets in the way.
And that's okay!
For me, the most important part of being an artist isn't necessarily completing every project by a particular deadline. It's continuing to develop my skills, experiment with new ideas, and create artwork that I can be proud of.
Finishing Lexicon Lands in November is an opportunity to reinforce that mindset.
Rather than abandoning an unfinished project, I'm choosing to continue working toward my original goal while making room for other creative opportunities.
